Navigation and Information Architecture
Navigation should reflect how visitors think about their goals. Labels should be short, predictable and understandable without knowledge of FSCJ's internal organizational structure.
- Keep primary navigation stable and consistent across the College site.
- Use plain-language labels and avoid unexplained acronyms.
- Place related content together and minimize unnecessary navigation levels.
- Use breadcrumbs or other location cues where the page hierarchy benefits from them.
- Avoid creating multiple pages that answer the same user need.
- Ensure mobile navigation provides the same essential destinations and functionality as desktop navigation.
- Use internal links to connect related content and help both visitors and search engines understand relationships.
