Fire Science Cadet Academy Banner

The Fire Science Cadet Academy is a two-year program providing recent high school graduates the opportunity to simultaneously obtain an Associate of Science degree in Fire Technology, an Emergency Medical Technician Level I certification and a Florida Firefighter certification. The program provides a strong foundation in community fire protection strategies such as fire prevention, fire chemistry, building construction and fire protection systems. Within two years you’ll be eligible and prepared to take the State of Florida’s Certification Exam. By passing the certification exams, three hours are credited to the associate degree, at which time students efficiently earn both a valuable academic credential and become certified as a fire professional in the state of Florida.

  • In-class training held Monday–Friday at FSCJ South Campus
  • Fire Academy training on Thursdays and Fridays
  • Obtain EMT Certification and Firefighter I & II Certification
  • Complete Associate in Science in Fire Science Technology in two years
  • Be prepared to take the Firefighter’s State Certification at the end of the program
  • Financial Aid is available to those who qualify
