EWU Forensic Futures Pathway
FSCJ and Edward Waters University (EWU) have established a strategic multi-pathway forensic science partnership designed to build a strong, affordable and accessible pipeline into high-demand STEM and forensic science careers. The EWU Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science is the only forensic science degree program in Northeast Florida, giving the partnership a unique regional and statewide significance.
This collaboration provides two clearly defined academic pathways—a 2+2 transfer pathway and an innovative 4+1 accelerated pathway—that expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in forensic science, biomedical sciences and medical schools.
Partnership Pathways
1. 2+2 Forensic Science Pathway
- Years 1–2 (FSCJ): Students complete general education and lower-division STEM coursework, including biology, chemistry, mathematics and core science laboratories.
- Years 3–4 (EWU): Students transfer to Edward Waters University to complete upper-division forensic science coursework, advanced laboratories, internships and a forensic lab practicum.
- Student Support: The pathway includes dedicated advising, structured transfer agreements, and continued access to forensic clubs, conferences and experiential learning opportunities.
This pathway ensures affordability, academic continuity and strong preparation for forensic science careers and graduate education.
2. 4+1 Accelerated Biomedical Science to Forensic Science Pathway
- Students who graduate from FSCJ with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science may transfer to Edward Waters University to earn a second Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science in one additional year of focused study.
- This 4+1 pathway:
- Leverages prior advanced coursework in biology, chemistry and laboratory science.
- Allows students to specialize in forensic applications of biomedical knowledge.
- Provides a highly efficient route to dual STEM credentials.
This accelerated option is particularly attractive to high-performing STEM students seeking specialization without extending time to degree.
Benefits of the Partnership
- Multiple flexible pathways (2+2 and 4+1) to meet career and graduate-school goals
- Reduced cost and time to degree completion
- Strong preparation for forensic careers, medical school and graduate education
- Access to an HBCU-based STEM program with individualized mentorship.
- Provides FSCJ students with clear, guaranteed transfer pathways
