Legacy Profile

Dr. Barnes' contributions to the advancement of the College and the FSCJ Foundation are many and have come in different forms over decades, including planned giving," said VP for Institutional Advancement and FSCJ Foundation Executive Director Scott Evans. "It is fitting and well-deserved to announce the establishment of this new society to recognize Dr. Barnes and all future planned giving donors forever."

Wade has led a successful career as an Obstetrical and Gynecology Consultant with North Florida Ob-Gyn Associates delivering more than 9,000 babies, and retired in June 2018. In 2014, Wade became the Medical Director for the Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) program at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville. In this volunteer role, Wade helped build a program focusing on best practices in forensic exams, and volunteers with staffing cases, reviewing charts, and meeting with nurses. In 2018, Wade was named Advocate of the Year for the State of Florida by the Office of the Attorney General, and that same year, a tribute ceremony was held in Wade's honor at the State Capitol during Victims’ Rights Week.

The H. Wade Barnes, Jr., M.D. Heritage Society honors donors who include the FSCJ Foundation in their estate plans. Our generous legacy donors share the common vision of helping Florida State College at Jacksonville advance the standard of an equitable, high-quality, success-driven learning experience for decades to come.
