Advising

Advising is a critical component of the Honors Program experience and is designed to encourage diverse learning experiences, active goal setting and reflection, and involvement in the college and community. The Honors Program seeks to help students define and achieve their goals to make the most out of their experience at FSCJ.

We strongly encourage you to make an appointment with an Honors Program staff member each term so we may get to know you and help you achieve your goals, both academic and personal. First-year students must see an Honors Program staff member during the fall semester, prior to registering for spring classes, and again in the spring semester, prior to registering for summer and fall classes.

The Honors Program has a designated Honors Advisor, Ms. Lois Lindsey.

How to Schedule an Advising Appointment

Current students can make a future advising appointment in myGradPlan.

Transfer

Students who graduate from the FSCJ Honors Program with at least 15 honors credits and a 3.2 cumulative GPA are eligible for guaranteed admission to the Hicks Honors College at UNF.

The Director of the Honors Program also helps to support students with transfer to all institutions.

Honors Conferences

The FSCJ Honors Program is affiliated with the Florida Collegiate Honors Council and the Southern Regional Honors Council. Each year, students are selected to present their research and/or service projects at the annual conferences of these organizations.

Co-Curricular Learning

By design, the honors student experience involves not only learning in-class but also co-curricular learning outside the classroom. This learning occurs through active participation in the Honors Program and student life and leadership activities. Students may also have the opportunity for study abroad or study U.S.A. travel opportunities. Honors students are encouraged to become actively involved in campus and college life. Students may become involved in an FSCJ organization that complements their academic interests and talents.

    Phi Theta Kappa

The Upsilon Eta Chapter of PTK has provided many opportunities for FSCJ students to develop into strong academic leaders with countless scholarships made available to support them along the way.
