Are you a spouse of an active duty service member or activated Reserve member? The MyCAA program may be for you!

FSCJ recognizes that the circumstances of military spouses are unique. You manage a household through multiple PCS moves or service member’s deployments. Setting aside the time to pursue your educational goals or enhance your current skills to be more marketable isn’t always high on your priority list. We understand what you are experiencing and are here to offer you the flexibility and convenience that you need as a military spouse.

We offer four bachelor’s degrees, nine associate degrees, and many technical and workforce certificates fully online. These programs are designed to be flexible with your busy schedule and to help you achieve your educational goals.

FSCJ has a Military and Veterans Service Center (MVSC) that serves as a single point of contact and is staffed with dedicated military advisors, experienced financial aid analysts and representatives from the Veterans’ Administration. The MVSC can provide you with the help you need, including:

  • Maximizing eligible military spouse education benefits
  • Assisting with MyCAA and Post 9/11 GI Bill®
  • Completing the application process
  • Applying for other financial aid
  • Mapping out your academic path
  • Receiving credit for prior coursework
  • Registering for classes
  • Note: MyCAA does not cover the cost of books—whether virtual or physical—or any other materials beyond tuition expenses.

Under the long-term program guidelines, career counselors will continue to work with all military spouses to help develop career and education goals and plans, and assist them in identifying and accessing available federal education benefits toward these goals.

Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Program

Military spouses are eligible for up to $4,000 in education benefits, $2,000 per fiscal year for two years, through the Department of Defense MyCAA program. These benefits can be applied toward most certifications, certificates and degree programs. Spouses must finish their program of study within three years from the start of their first class.

Eligibility:

  • Sponsor is affiliated with the following branches of service: Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and Reserves
  • Sponsor is one of the following pay grades: E-1 to E-5, W1-W2, and O1-O2

If sponsor is a reservist, the program must be completed during Title 10 Active Duty orders

More information can be found at MilitaryOneSource.com and the MyCAA Portal*. An MVSC advisor can help you get started.
