FSCJ Marketing and Branding AI Guidelines
Purpose:
FSCJ recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of education, work, communication and daily life. These guidelines are intended to encourage responsible exploration and thoughtful use of it, while maintaining human judgement.
These guidelines provide a Collegewide framework for the responsible use of AI for marketing at FSCJ. They are intended to help faculty, staff and administrators use AI tools in ways that support productivity, creativity, communication, innovation and efficiency while protecting privacy, accuracy, institutional credibility and trust.
Guidelines:
When to Use AI
AI tools may be used to support brainstorming, drafting, creative exploration, outlines, concept development, editing, resizing, accessibility review and other communication or creative tasks.
Minor photo editing, such as correcting lighting, reducing image noise, resizing, removing temporary blemishes or minor distracting objects, may be permitted, provided the edit does not misrepresent the person, place, event or activity.
Public-facing College materials must remain truthful, accurate, accessible and brand aligned. Materials intended for public use should be reviewed by the Marketing and Communications department before publication.
What to Avoid
Do not use AI-generated or AI-assisted materials for College communications, marketing, branding, advertising, recruitment, fundraising, web content, social media or official publications in a way that bypasses established review, approval, accessibility or brand processes.
AI may not be used to create (or recreate), alter, distort or generate FSCJ logos, athletic marks, mascot graphics, seals or other official identity elements. See Logos and Brand Marks below.
AI may not be used to generate photorealistic images or videos that give the appearance of FSCJ students, employees, stakeholders, facilities or activities.
AI-generated or AI-assisted creative materials intended for public use should be reviewed for accuracy, brand alignment, accessibility, bias and audience impact before publication.
Logos and Brand Marks
Don't ask AI to generate the FSCJ logo, seal, athletic marks, mascot costume or Manta Rays logo under any circumstance. Use the real files, which are available to download at fscj.edu/branding.
Written Communications
The same principles apply to text, which includes news releases, presentations, official statements, web copy and emails. Don't let AI invent statistics, quotes, program details or institutional claims and present them as fact. If a number or detail isn't confirmed, leave it out.
All AI-generated content must be reviewed thoroughly by a person prior to distribution.
Visual Identity
Marketing and Communications owns the College's visual identity, which includes AI-assisted materials.
If a piece doesn't fit these guidelines, we'll reach out directly and may ask that it come down or be revised.
Questions
AI is powerful and can be a game changer, but it's our shared responsibility to ensure content is accurate, adheres to our guidelines and protects how the College is presented to our audience.
If you’re ever unsure about what to do, contact someone in Marketing and Communications before you post/share/print.
