Program Overview

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares students for entry-level employment as competent, ethical, and compassionate sonographers in a diverse healthcare environment. The program emphasizes high-quality instruction, hands-on clinical education, and the development of critical thinking and communication skills. Graduates are equipped to meet workforce needs in the State of Florida while upholding professional standards, patient safety, and lifelong learning.

Typical tasks may include:

  • Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures while ensuring comfort, safety, and professionalism
  • Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment to produce images of anatomical structures and blood flow
  • Analyze image quality in real time and obtain appropriate measurements for diagnostic evaluation
