Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC) (C.C.)

The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration Career Certificate (C.C.) prepares students for a rewarding career in the all-encompassing HVAC industry. The program provides optimal access to high quality, affordable, and relevant, career training.

Expert hands-on training provides the necessary skills for a successful career, and for thousands less than the for-profit tech schools.

Important for You to Know

Full-time Day program (5604) classes are held Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-3:50 p.m., for 12 months. Students may begin the full-time day program in the Fall Term or Spring Term.

Part-time Evening program (560P) classes are held Monday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., for 24 months. The curriculum for both Full-time and Part-time programs is identical.

Upon completion of this program, students will be prepared for the following certifications or licenses:

Articulation

Upon successful completion of the program, students may receive articulated College credit toward the Industrial Management Technology (A.S.) degree.

Program Learning Outcomes

Beginning in the classroom learning the current theories of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and electrical systems, students then have hands-on training in piping and brazing techniques, set up, adjustment and troubleshooting.

In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to network with major contractors while you’re still in school. We also refer you for internships and job interviews. Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Building Construction program has a long-standing relationship with this region’s major industry organizations, such as Woods Engineering, ShayCore Enterprises, Superior Construction, Stellar Group, Dickey Smith & Company, Miatt Construction, Accubuild Construction, Haskell, Gilbane, Barton and Malow, and Auld & White.

HVAC/R Training classes are located at the Downtown Campus located at 101 West State Street B Building. Our HVAC/R lab is B114

NO you do not need to complete any assessment prior to starting the class. In order to earn the Career Certificate, students must achieve or surpass the designated exit score(s) on an approved adult basic skills assessment or qualify for a waiver. For students who need assistance in order to meet the exit requirement(s), the College offers remediation through tutoring, referral to online resources and/or completion of Academic Skills Building (ASB) coursework in Mathematics and Reasoning through Language Arts.
