The FSCJ Donald D. Zell Golf Classic returns to Queen’s Harbour on Monday, April 27, 2026, honoring the legacy of Donald David Zell, Sr., a lifelong advocate for education, community, and the game of golf.
Mr. Zell had a deep and enduring connection to FSCJ, serving on the College’s Board of Trustees and the FSCJ Foundation, and helping shape its future through his leadership and generosity. His belief in the power of education was personal and profound: having attended Georgia Tech on a Navy scholarship, he was committed to ensuring that future generations of students had access to the same opportunities. His contributions to FSCJ include the donation of land that became the North Campus and the establishment of the FSCJ Urban Resource Center, which proudly bears his name.
An avid golfer, Mr. Zell was also a longtime leader and volunteer with the Greater Jacksonville Open - now THE PLAYERS Championship, where he served for more than five decades, including as Chairman, and was a proud Red Coat. Naming this tournament in his honor is a fitting tribute to a man who believed in giving back, both on the course and beyond it.
Proceeds from the FSCJ Donald D. Zell Golf Classic directly benefit FSCJ student-athletes, helping provide essential resources that support training, competition, and academic success. Participants will enjoy a challenging round of golf, meaningful networking opportunities, a hot breakfast, lunch, and exciting raffle prizes, all while making a lasting investment in the success of FSCJ Athletics.
We look forward to seeing you on the green - Go Manta Rays!
