Founded in 1965 as Florida Junior College, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) has grown with the people we serve, becoming a trusted partner in education and a proud part of the education landscape on the First Coast. From fall 2025 through fall 2026, FSCJ is celebrating six decades of dedicated service to this community.
Since inception, the College has consistently fulfilled the mission of empowering students of all ages—with accessible pathways, innovative programs and enriching cultural experiences—becoming a cornerstone of education and opportunity in Northeast Florida. From our beginning as a forward-thinking institution to the present-day stature as a pathway to opportunity and a hub for workforce development, FSCJ’s journey over 60 years exemplifies the enduring commitment to transforming lives and uplifting communities.
Known affectionately as “the community’s college,” FSCJ continues to serve Duval and Nassau counties by offering affordable, high-quality education to students of all backgrounds, including recent high school graduates, working adults, active duty military service members, veterans and international learners.
