Program Overview
Offered in partnership with the Southern California School of Interpretation Prepare for a career providing professional medical interpreting services in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. This comprehensive online program is designed for bilingual individuals seeking to develop the skills needed to work effectively as medical interpreters and prepare for national Medical Interpreter Certification through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) and the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
The program includes 81 hours of expert-led instruction, exceeding the 40-hour training requirement established by national medical interpreter certification organizations. Students may receive a 40-hour proof of completion letter after completing the required portion of the program and may continue to complete the full 81 hours for additional training and preparation. Delivered entirely online and on demand, the program combines expert instruction, realistic medical scenarios, assessments, and unlimited practice to develop essential consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, and sight translation skills specific to healthcare environments. This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to pursue professional opportunities in medical interpreting and prepare for national certification.
