Program Overview

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Emergency Medical Services degree program is designed to graduate competent, caring providers who possess the critical thinking necessary to function as EMS providers. This A.S. degree program in EMS is a combination of general education and EMS courses. The mission of the Florida State College at Jacksonville Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program is the advancement of EMS through education. The faculty and stakeholders of the EMS program strive to keep ahead of the changing technology and look toward innovations in delivery of prehospital emergency medicine and educational theory. The EMS program is dedicated to develop diverse, timely and informative programs that challenge the student toward professional excellence.

Program Outcomes

Cognitive Domain: Upon successful completion of the program, the student will demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical information and related topics, relevant to the practice of EMS providers (EMT and Paramedic).

Psychomotor Domain: Upon successful completion of the program, the student will demonstrate the ability to competently and proficiently perform all EMS providers (EMT and Paramedic) level skills.

Affective Domain: Upon successful completion of the program, the student will demonstrate attitudes and behaviors consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of EMS providers (EMT and Paramedic).

The FSCJ North Campus Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
