Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Florida-based health care plan provider Sunshine Health have partnered on a new initiative aimed to jump start and enhance the professional landscape of current and interested individuals in the health care field in North Florida. FSCJ Sunshine Health Grant offers up to $1000 in tuition funds for in-demand medical health care programs in North Florida.

Programs Include

The FSCJ Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prepares you to start a rewarding career as a nursing assistant. Through the use of live instructor and hands-on training, you will receive the necessary skills to start a career in the nursing profession and sit for the Florida Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification exam.

Our Medical Assisting Career Certificate will prepare you to do everything as a medical assistant from maintaining medical records, filing insurance claims and billing to taking medical histories, vital signs and assisting with exams. You’ll gain practical experience for a medical assisting job in local hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics. In addition, you qualify to take the Registered Medical Assistant examination to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

The FSCJ Home Health Aide (HHA) program prepares you to start a rewarding career in Home Health. Through the use of live instructors and hands-on training, you will receive the necessary skills to start a career working in the Home Health Aide Healthcare Field.

The Practical Nursing Career Certificate (C.C.) Program consists of classroom lectures, laboratory and clinical education components. You’ll learn basic nursing and clinical skills as well as medical terminology, computer literacy and medical medication administration. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure examination (NCLEX) and become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). From hospitals to physicians’ offices to nursing homes and home care, an LPN is an entry point into a nursing career path

This course is designed for nurses or nursing graduates who are required by the Florida Board of Nursing to complete an RN Remediation course to retake the Florida NCLEX exam or have their nursing license reactivated or transferred to Florida. This Florida State Board of Nursing-approved course meets the state of Florida mandated guidelines of 80 instructional hours, plus 96 clinical hours.

This course is designed to equip Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with basic knowledge to expand their IV therapy practice. Students will receive hands-on practice with IV simulation manikins. Topics include infection control, central line use, fluids, electrolytes, blood, plasma, albumin, TPN therapy, assessment and care.
