Success and Coaching values you as an FSCJ student and are here to help support your success. Success Coaches are guided by the principles outlined within FSCJ Standards of Academic Progress. To learn more, review the Academic Progress section of the FSCJ Student Handbook.
Remember to monitor your FSCJ student email daily by downloading the Outlook App or by forwarding your FSCJ student emails to your personal email account. This can be done by:
- Downloading App: Log in using your FSCJ student email beginning with letter “S” and student number (S0000000.students.fscj.edu) and your myFSCJ password.
- To forward emails: Log in to email>settings>mail>forwarding>enable forwarding and enter personal email account information.
Other helpful information to prepare for your appointment.
- Know your FSCJ Student ID number.
- Be prepared to discuss any barriers or issues you are experiencing and how they are preventing you from reaching your academic goals.
For Telephone and Virtual Appointments:
- Plan to meet in a quiet area, free from distractions.
- Be in front of your computer and logged into your myFSCJ student account.
- Your Success Coach will send email a virtual meeting link the day of your appointment (virtual appointments only).
As you prepare to meet with an Academic Success Coach, consider some of the questions below.
Before your first appointment:
- Check your FSCJ email account. You will receive an email confirmation that your appointment request has been accepted by a Success Coach.
- Do you have any questions about the role of an Academic Success Coach?
- What would you like to work on with your Academic Success Coach? What change(s) would you like to see as a result of working with a coach?
- What outcomes would you like to see? What would a successful appointment look like for you today? (be sure to share this with us!)
When returning for a follow-up appointment:
- How are you doing? How has your term been so far?
- What has happened as a result of your last coaching appointment? What progress have you made? What insights or observations have you had?
- How are you doing on your goals or action items? If you didn’t make progress – that can be helpful, too. What did you notice about where you got stuck?
- What would you like to work on prior to our next meeting?
Take notes or ask the coach to help you take notes during your session or at the end of the session so you can capture ideas you’ve brainstormed and take away a list of action items and next steps.
