Civics Career Academies

Purpose

The Florida State College at Jacksonville - Civics Career Academy Initiative is committed to preparing high school students for careers in public service and leadership.

Program Description

FSCJ’s Civics Career Academy Initiative, a grant funded partnership with Polk State College and Broward State College, is designed to provide high school students with the skills and content needed to pursue public sector careers. This pathway will provide students with opportunities to explore careers in public service, government, and community-based organizations, and create a career pathway for those positions. 

FSCJ will partner with Duval County Public Schools and Nassau County School District to provide high school students with opportunities to strengthen leadership skills and develop a strong foundation in civics education. Coursework will include Public Service Leadership, Public Service Communication, Experiential Learning and Project Management in Public Service, and Public Service Research. Students will have the opportunity to prepare for industry certifications including PMI Public Management ReadyTM and other certifications.
