STUDENT FEE PUBLIC NOTICE
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The District Board of Trustees for Florida State College at Jacksonville will act upon the following matters at its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the College’s Betty P. Cook Nassau Center, Room T-126, 76346 William Burgess Blvd., Yulee, FL 32097.
NOTICE OF PROPOSED COURSE FEES AND CHARGES
The proposed actions will authorize the College to 1.) Change the fees for the following two courses to be effective Spring Term 2019-2020: STS1310L, Surgical Principles and Techniques Lab and STS2323L, Surgical Procedures I Lab. Clinical experiences are an integral part of the curriculum for many health programs so that students are able to get practical experience. Health care providers are willing to take FSCJ students but need to have personal information on health professionals in a training status for many reasons. In order to meet this need, local hospitals and health care organizations have adopted myClinicalExchange, the cost of which equals the recommended fee. myClinicalExchange is used by the local clinical facilities to place FSCJ students. The database contains the student background checks, drug screening results and other medical documentation required by the facilities. The recommended fees are projected to have no net fiscal impact on the College, as the fee assessed to the student will cover the cost of access to the myClinicalExchange database, and 2.) Change the fee for course STS2944C, Surgical Technology Clinical I, to be effective Spring Term 2019-2020. The course fee of $290 is designed to cover the cost of the Certified Surgical Technologist Certification exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technologist. The recommended changed fee is projected to have no net fiscal impact on the College, as the fee assessed to the student will cover the cost of the Certified Surgical Technologist Certification exam, and 3.) Change the fee for course STS2324L, Surgical Procedures II Lab, to be effective Spring Term 2019-2020. The course fee of $80 is designed to cover the cost of Certified Surgical Technologist self-assessment examinations (Form A – B) to prepare students for the Certified Surgical Technologist Certification examination. The recommended changed fee is projected to have no net fiscal impact on the College, as the fee assessed to the student will cover the cost of the self-assessment examinations.
Any person requesting to address the above matters will be provided an opportunity to do so by appearing before the Board at the December 10th meeting. Copies of the Fees and Charges item will be available for inspection beginning November 12, 2019, in the Office of the College President, Room 408D, 501 West State Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202 as well as on the College’s website at https://www.fscj.edu/ under the Student Notice Alert.
If you have questions related to the proposed actions, please contact the Office of the Associate Vice President of Finance at (904) 361-6268.
If special accommodations are required, please advise the Office of the College President twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the meeting by contacting Administration Support Manager Ms. Kimberli Sodek.
