TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The District Board of Trustees for Florida State College at Jacksonville will act upon the following matters at its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the College’s Administrative Offices, Board Room 405, 501 West State Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
NOTICE OF PROPOSED COURSE FEES AND CHARGES
The proposed actions will authorize the College to (1) remove fee for courses EMS2667 Paramedic Clinical II and EMS2668 Paramedic Clinical III, to be effective Fall Term 2018-19. The course fee was originally approved to cover the cost of My Clinical Exchange software program used by clinical facilities for placement of students at clinical sites. The fee is no longer needed for these two courses. The recommended fee removal is projected to have no net fiscal impact on the College; 2) revise fee for courses EMS1119 EMT Lecture/Didactic, EMS1401 Fundamentals of Emergency Medicine, EMS2611L Paramedic Lab I Pharm, and EMS1421 EMT Clinical Experience (ED & Field), to be effective Fall Term 2018-19. The course fees are insurance fees. EMS1401 was replaced with EMS1119L and EMS1421 as a result of a curriculum change due to Florida DOE. Insurance fees should not be on lecture or lab courses. Insurance fees should be added to clinical courses. Therefore, the changes requested will bring these courses related fees into alignment. The recommended revised fees are projected to have no fiscal impact on the College; 3) revise fee for course EMS2617L Paramedic Lab V Assessment, to be effective Fall Term 2018-19. The course fee covers the cost of NAEMT AMLS & PHTLS provider certifications. An increase of $10 is being requested to cover the cost of NAEMT GEMS provider certification. More employers are desiring their workers to have these certifications. These certifications would make students who complete the program more marketable. The recommended revised fee is projected to have no fiscal impact on the College; and 4) adjust the Full Cost of Instruction surcharge for third-attempt students to the Florida College System average full cost as referenced in Florida Statute 1009.285, to be effective Fall Term 2018-19. The recommended adjustment is projected to have minimal fiscal impact on the College and the increases and decreases are expected to offset each other.
