JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) was recently ranked 10th on the list for 30 Best Online Community Colleges for 2017 by College Choice. College Choice is an independent online publication dedicated to helping students and their families find the right college.
“We understand the importance and necessity of offering students non-traditional options for earning a college degree,” said FSCJ President Dr. Cynthia Bioteau. “Each and every one of our students has their own story and faces different circumstances on their educational journey. Through our varying online degree programs, we are able to provide a more flexible option that allows them to pursue their education in the way that works best for them.”
FSCJ Online provides a wide variety of accredited degrees and certificates that can be completed fully online. FSCJ Online makes it possible for students in Florida to combine the convenience of online education with an affordable in-state tuition rate, while also providing students across the United States with FSCJ’s quality and value which outweigh many other institutions. To determine their list of the 30 best community colleges offering online associate degrees, College Choice correlates data from Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program and individual community colleges. They consider several factors in developing the institutional performance score, including first year retention rates, three-year graduation rates, credentials awarded and other criteria.
They also factor percentage of non-traditional and minority students, percentage of Pell grants and minority graduation rates in order to create a diversity score. Finally they compare online tuition rates to give a sense of the financial investment students would need to make.
