WHAT: Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will hold a grand opening event to introduce the community to its new Instrumentation and Control Technology Center (ICTC), featuring state-of-the-art instrumentation and controls that are currently being utilized in the leading manufacturing systems throughout the world.
This industry-driven laboratory, located inside the FSCJ Advanced Technology Center, will enhance the education of students who choose to work toward the newly created instrumentation and controls concentration within FSCJ’s Engineering Technology (Advanced Manufacturing) Associate in Science degree program. The concentration was made possible by a $499,655 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in addition to support from industry partners, allowing FSCJ to acquire industry-standard equipment, including various types of electrical controls, data acquisition systems, computer equipment and virtual instrumentation.
Thanks to a generous equipment and installation donation from OnSyte Performance and Siemens Corporation to outfit the ICTC with a fully-operational, state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system, students will have access to greater education and hands-on training. This advanced training will prepare students to excel in the environmental sustainability wastewater treatment and manufacturing fields.
The event will also highlight this first-of-its-kind training partnership which brings together FSCJ, OnSyte Performance, Siemens, AWC, Inc., ITG Technologies, Sun Coast Hydraulic Electric Manufacturing, Inc. and Rayonier Advanced Materials.
