Dr. Barbara Darby is the current President of North Campus and Nassau Center. Dr. Darby holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida, and has a professional background as Assistant Dean, Campus Dean, Instructional Program Manager and Director. Although Dr. Darby has maintained her position since 1998, she will be leaving FSCJ in 2015. Dr. Darby was able to provide some highlights about her goals for North Campus and Nassau Center, along with a few fun facts about herself.
Q. What are some of the exciting things currently happening, or coming this fall on your campus?
A. “Installation of digital signage in key ‘student-use’ locations such as the cafeteria, Student Success, Library/Learning Commons, and common areas at the Nassau Center, Records Management Project, new Human Services bachelor program, Friends and Family Day on Saturday before classes begin, “Block Party” concept the first week of classes to engage students and invite them to workshops on note taking, test-taking strategies, time management, stress management, Dr. Sandy Robinson, Interim Executive Director, Nassau Center/President Elect North Campus, leadership team and faculty planning retreats and the “Inspired Teaching and Learning” Art Gallery exhibit — the best of the North Campus faculty and students.”
Q. What assets do you feel make a great college?
A. “Up-to-date facilities and technology, welcoming atmosphere, safe environment, large selection of instructional programs, diversity of programs, recognized for excellence and a student centered philosophy.”
Q. Is your campus currently undergoing any construction or updates that you would like to share?
A. “Infrastructure survey and upgrade at North Campus (water lines, data lines, HVAC, etc), student desks/seating upgrades in classrooms and labs, Nassau Center building sealant and repairs and implementation of a student recognition wall.”
Q. What was your favorite food when you were a child?
A. “Hot dogs and beans.”

A. “How can I give thanks” (My Tribute), “He’s more than wonderful,” “ Have I told you lately that I love you” and “Falling In love with Jesus.”
