Wanda Porter Awarded Non-Instructional Support Staff of the Year

Wanda Porter, administrative assistant II for our Adult Education program at our Downtown Campus, was selected as the State Adult Education ACE Non-Instructional Support Staff of the Year by Adult and Community Educators of Florida (ACE).

Adult and Community Educators of Florida, Inc. represents, promotes and advocates for adult and community education professionals and volunteers through its commitment to improving and expanding adult and community education programs and services throughout the state.

“Wanda is a tremendous support to our entire Adult Education department and so deserving of this award,” said Patty Adeeb, director pre-collegiate studies at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Wanda was selected based on her ability to provide exceptional non-instructional support for adult and community education through the following ways:

  1. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  2. Demonstrate highly effective computer and information support.
  3. Establish and maintain high regard and rapport with students, teachers and staff to support the educational process.

“Wanda Porter goes beyond the expected in all of her efforts to provide a successful environment for the many she works for and with to reach goals for success,” said Adeeb. “Her dedication, tenacity, self-initiative and caring concern has served as a continued catalyst for achieving overt Collegewide successes.”

Wanda was honored at the 2014 ACE Conference Awards Luncheon in Orlando, Florida on October 8. During the luncheon, Wanda was awarded the prestigious Golden Apple award.
