September 2021 Recruitment Update

As we kick off our Fall Term, the Recruitment and Admissions team is excited to share some updates on our outreach efforts as well as share some changes related to our Limited and Selective Access (LSA) program applications to help make the process of joining the FSCJ family that much easier for our prospective students.

New Guided Admissions Application Process for Limited Access Programs
Students are more likely to complete their credentials if they identify a program early, have a clear academic plan inclusive of course sequences, and receive educational and student support services to help them stay on their pathway. To support this critical component of Guided Pathways, starting with our Summer 2022 Term application cycle, students will begin in the program of study of their choice. Knowing what pathway a student is pursuing helps us offer targeted guidance and support, leading to their success.

Students applying for summer 2022 and beyond will enter the prerequisites phase of the program to complete all admissions requirements. When ready, the program will review the student records for acceptance to the professional phase of the program in a competitive review process. This simplified pathway will help us identify and report students throughout their LSA lifecycle and coordinate ongoing accurate communication at each step.

Fall 2021 By the Numbers
Even though our Fall Term 2021 classes just started, we are already looking ahead and connecting with students about Fall Term 2022. We wanted to share with you some of the highlights from this past academic year in Recruitment and Admissions:

  • As of August 31, we had a total of 13,808 applicants for this term, with more than 43% of them registering for classes! Our fall outreach does not stop there, as we are actively connecting with students interested in some of our B and C Session class offerings.
  • Our Recruitment team has been busy connecting with community members both in person as well as virtually. From September 2020 through August 2021, we attended or hosted more than 350 events and saw 5,000+ prospective students at workshops and presentations across Duval and Nassau counties. With the addition of two new team members, Lorne Richardson and Trina Steinmaker, who remain part of our Perkins Grant teams, we look forward to continuing to increase our CTE focused outreach efforts.
  • Our Enrollment Coaches are working hard to connect with students and helping them through the application process while answering any questions they may have about the opportunities that await them here at FSCJ. In the month of August alone, we connected with 2,083 individuals! Some of the great feedback they received included, “The person assisting me was outstanding and had an extreme amount of patience!!!! Awesome!!!”, “Answered all my questions. I expected to leave and still be scratching my head on how to get started, but she made it very clear and easy to understand. I’m going to apply tonight!”  and “Great customer service! The Admissions personnel made things less stressful. Outstanding expertise on assisting me with making corrections on application.”
