The Career Employees Council is the advisory body that represents the needs and promotes the welfare of career employees throughout the College. Career employees work side by side with our faculty and administration to support the needs of our students. Each month, we will spotlight the work of a career employee to highlight how they play an important role throughout the College.
September’s career employee feature is Gary George, integrated systems specialist.
Gary has worked for the College since 1992, first as a Microcomputer Specialist I at Downtown Campus, then in 1996 moved to a Microcomputer Specialist II at Kent Campus, and now serves as an integrated systems specialist under Robbie Peeples.
Gary helps to manage, maintain and support Information Technology Service resources at Kent Campus and other locations throughout the College as needed to assist students, faculty and staff with their technology needs. Also at Kent, Gary assists with audio and visual technical support and coordinates yoga fitness sessions twice a week.
Gary is a lifelong Jacksonville resident and graduated with an associate degree in Electronics Technology from Florida State College at Jacksonville. He has achieved A+ certifications and Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist 10.X certifications. He is a lifelong member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Outside of work, Gary sings in a choir at St. Pius V Catholic Church on Saturdays and currently serves as the vice president and treasurer of the Magnolia Gardens North Neighborhood Association. For more than 10 years Gary has also served at the Sulzbacher Center helping serve the evening meal.
