Medical Office Administration (2142)

Medical Administration is about large responsibilities and small details. This is office management on a higher plane. You’ll help patients schedule appointments, track and file their medical insurance, manage the billing, and find answers and solutions to the kinds of situations that come on the business side of medicine and patient care. Hospital, clinics, and private physicians rely on you to keep the office and practice running smoothly. In return, you can count on stable employment, outstanding benefits, excellent income potential and rapid advancement.

Florida Community College is ranked the most technologically advanced community college in the nation. The labs in our Advanced Technology Center are state-of-the-art. You can train on campus or online using leading-edge software such as Medisoft Software for scheduling, billing, insurance. Florida Community College partners with every leading hospital and medical center in North East Florida. Our programs match their growth projections. Their directors hold master classes, presentations and job fairs on our campus.

Earning an A.S. or A.A.S. degree in Medical Office Administration will qualify you to start a great career as a medical secretary, medical transcription office assistant, medical office coordinator or medical office assistant. The program teaches you medical terms, computer keyboard skills and speed development, software used in medical offices, customer service basics, and business communications.

A technical certificate (Medical Office Management) is included as an option within this degree program. Students may choose to pursue an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn a technical certificate while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact an advisor or counselor to determine the career education path that is best for you. Students may complete a degree in only one of the three specialty tracks, Office Administration, Medical Office or Office Software Applications. Students who wish to add a second area of specialization after completing a degree should pursue the technical certificate in that area.
