  Associate in Applied Science Degree
Computer Engineering Technology (Computer Technician) (A173)
If you are interested in computer installation, configuration and troubleshooting, and you want to be well prepared for certification exams in A+ and Network+, this A.A.S. degree program is for you. A variety of electives allows you to gain experience with other platforms, hardware and operating systems. Skills in customer support and problem solving in a business environment are also emphasized. The coursework emphasizes hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment. The job outlook for individuals who graduate from this program of study is excellent. An internship is included to help you obtain the real-world experience many employers require. Students who have extensive work experience may apply to have their work evaluated to fulfill this requirement.
A technical certificate is included as an option within this degree program. Students may choose to pursue an A.A.S. degree and earn technical certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact an advisor or counselor to determine the career education path that is best for you.
Students may complete a degree in only one of the two specialty tracks, Cisco CCNP or Computer Technician. Students who wish to add a second area of specialization after completing a degree should pursue a technical certificate in that area. Those who have completed the Computer Electronics Technology (5623) or the Network Support Services (5670) certificate programs may apply to have their coursework evaluated for college credit and applied to these programs.
