William M. Raines High School - Culinary

Orientation

Junior Year, Spring Semester
Orientation will provide detailed explanation of the program and expectations of the student participants. Students will also complete assessments that will identify areas of need and strengths and will help in the development of their personalized success plan.

Summer Training Program

Summer Prior to Senior Year
Students will complete industry certification courses and gain skills in time management, budgeting, goal setting, professionalism and volunteerism at FSCJ. Students will build relationships with FSCJ faculty and staff who will offer support and mentorship throughout their journey.

High School Completion

Senior Year
Students will return to William A. Raines to complete the requirements for a high school diploma. During their senior year, students will receive ongoing guidance, support and counseling from FSCJ faculty and staff. As a motivational tool to encourage completion, students will continue to receive their Pathways to Work stipend if they meet the program requirements.

Certification and Paid Internship

Summer After Senior Year
Following high school graduation, students will complete the necessary coursework and testing to receive an industry certification and become eligible for placement in a four-week internship with an FSCJ industry partner. At completion, students can continue their educational journey at FSCJ toward earning an associate degree.

Job Placement and Career Advancement

Upon Program Completion
Working with FSCJ faculty and staff, graduates of the Pathways to Work program will benefit from skill-matching services and job referral assistance to promote immediate employment. Program graduates looking to further their education at FSCJ will receive support from faculty and staff to identify financial aid and scholarship opportunities to cover tuition costs.

College Completion

Ongoing
Whether immediately after Pathways to Work completion or some time into employment, program graduates will receive valuable support from FSCJ to help them apply their relevant learning and certification toward earning an associate degree at FSCJ.
