In partnership with Duval County Public Schools and employers throughout the community, Pathways to Work will utilize innovative and accelerated workforce training strategies to prepare and place high school graduates in high demand, entry-level positions in various industries including construction, culinary arts and global logistics. Additionally, the program will assist the participants with workforce advancement opportunities through continuing education as they progress in their careers.
The program will serve students who face both economic and academic barriers that are obstacles to their higher education access. Other objectives include ensuring the students complete the program, graduate from high school, earn an industry certification, earn placement in jobs relevant to their certifications or continue their education toward earning a degree.
Pathways to Work would not be possible if not for the support of Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver who generously pledged their support through the Weaver Family Foundation. We look forward to additional partnership opportunities that will emerge to progress and further expand the program.
We know that developing a prepared workforce that coincides with the specific opportunities and practical needs of the community we serve has a meaningful impact on the livelihood of our students and our community as a whole, both now and for generations to follow.
