In October 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded a $5 Million grant to Florida State College of Jacksonville. The Florida Apprenticeship Grant, led by FSCJ, in partnership with St. Petersburg College and Broward College, works with businesses and other partners to enhance workers’ job skills and to close the employment gap specifically faced by Manufacturing, Information Technology, Healthcare and Construction/Trades industries across Florida. The Grant promotes growth and expansion of quality, sustainable and innovative apprenticeship programs.

A total of 1,000 new apprentices will be served through this five year grant program. With special efforts focused on veterans, their eligible spouses, minorities and females.

Florida State College at Jacksonville, Broward College and St. Petersburg College are involved through the Florida Apprenticeship Grant in assisting area employers to create or expand registered apprenticeships.

The Florida Apprenticeship Grant is funded by the Department of Labor.  Apprenticeships are registered through the Department of Education.
