Professional Pilot Technology

Associate in Science

Learn to soar!

Let us help you launch an exciting new career as a professional pilot with an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Professional Pilot Technology. Conveniently located at Cecil Airport in Jacksonville’s Westside, FSCJ’s Cecil Center provides an ideal location for your flight school education and flight training. You’ll move quickly from the classroom, to flight simulators and then out to the flight line. FSCJ is authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to certify graduates with the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification at a reduced number of flight hours. Through FSCJ’s A.S. in Professional Pilot Technology, individuals interested in flying for the airlines can earn a 250-hour discount toward the 1,500 hours of flight time required to be eligible for the ATP certificate, the highest-level FAA-issued certificate.

We also offer the lowest flight training tuition in the area, and allow maximum use of GI Bill benefits for flight education and training. You may also qualify for other financial aid or scholarships. If you want to pursue a bachelor’s degree, credits from your associate degree transfer to many four-year aviation colleges and universities including Embry-Riddle.

Earn your degree and your wings through this top-notch aviation program. Our program includes flight training through a local Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) approved flight school. You will be prepared for a career as a professional pilot with the knowledge, skills and FAA certificates and ratings required.

If you already hold pilot certificates and ratings, you may receive college credit for those certificates based on FSCJ’s evaluation of your certificate(s), training and competency. Once enrolled, all further flight training must be completed through an FSCJ contracted flight school.

You are required to go through orientation and pass a flight physical through an FAA approved medical examiner and meet Transportation Security Administration requirements prior to flight training. Additional information is available at

You can find more information on FSCJ's flight training costs here.

Information Sessions are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. at FSCJ Cecil Center. For questions, email
