Program Overview

Are you interested in learning how to become a medical assistant? From the front office to the exam room, medical assistants keep the medical office running. They make sure patients have positive experiences and the doctor has the assistance needed to provide excellent patient care

Our Medical Assisting Career Certificate (C.C.) will prepare you to do everything as a medical assistant from maintaining medical records, filing insurance claims, and billing/coding to taking medical histories, vital signs and assisting with exams. You’ll gain practical experience for a medical assisting job in doctor’s offices (including all specialties’) and urgent care offices.  In addition, you qualify to take the Registered Medical Assistant examination to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Program Outcomes

Clinical experiences in the medical assisting program will be provided in physicians' offices, and urgent care offices. Clinical rotations are scheduled in various clinical settings and are a required part of the medical assistant program of study to assist students to obtain hands-on experience in the medical field while learning in the student role. Students must complete a 190-hour externship done Monday-Friday 8am-5pm for 5 weeks.

Certifications and Licenses

Graduates of the Career Certificate Medical Assisting program are eligible to sit for the following examinations:
