How are my quarter credit courses from another college evaluated?
  • Quarter credit hours from external colleges are converted to semester credit hours at the rate of one-quarter hour is equivalent to 0.67 semester-hour. A three-quarter credit hour course becomes a two-semester hour course and a five-quarter credit hour course becomes a 3.33 semester hour course.
  • The converted semester hours of an external course is assigned to that course even though it converted to a higher semester credit than an Florida State College at Jacksonville course. For example: An English 101 course with five-quarter credits will become ENC1101 and assigned 3.33 semester credits even though Florida State College at Jacksonville only has 3 semester credits for ENC 1101.
Why are some of my courses from the previous college(s) missing from my new Florida State College at Jacksonville transcript?
  • Only freshman and sophomore courses are evaluated and transferred onto the Florida State College at Jacksonville transcript. Courses that have no Florida State College at Jacksonville equivalent will not appear on the transcript. Upper division courses are not brought in unless they exactly match a Florida State College at Jacksonville course. Generally, masters and doctorate degree courses are not transferable to Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Why were my courses from one particular college or university not accepted?
  • Transfer credit may be accepted from degree granting institutions that are accredited at the collegiate level by an appropriate regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Courses are also accepted from institutions recognized and participating in the Florida Department of Education Statewide Course Numbering System. Transfer courses are subject to a course-by-course evaluation process to determine if the course is equivalent to courses offered at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
  • For courses that are initially deemed nontransferable to Florida State College at Jacksonville, the following supporting documentation must be submitted, by the student, for each course requested for reconsideration: (1) a copy of each course syllabus must include course title, course length, course description, text book used and, (2) verification of faculty credentials including college transcripts, professional licensure and/or certifications, and work experience in the field. The course syllabus must be the syllabus from the specific course section and semester that appears on the transcript. The faculty credentials must reflect the credentials at the time that the professor taught the course specified on the transcript. The student should submit this appropriate documentation to: Director of Admissions, Florida State College at Jacksonville, P.O. Box 2550, Jacksonville, FL 32203-2550.
  • Students with college credit from outside the United States must have an English translation and course-by-course evaluation performed, at the students’ expense, by an approved credentialed evaluation agency. Examples of the acceptable services are Josef Silny and Associates and World Education Services.
My CLEP, AP or College Credit by Exams from my previous college transcript does not appear on my new Florida State College at Jacksonville transcript. What is the procedure to get credits from them?
How do I request Florida State College at Jacksonville send a copy of my transcript to another college?
  • If you want the transcript mailed to another college or university, you may make the request through your Connections student account at the College Web site.
  • If you want the transcript mailed to your home address or another location or when the Web site procedure does not work, then you must fax a signed request to Florida State College at Jacksonville Student Records at (904) 633-8304.
  • The request must contain your name (and previous name if applicable), last four digits of your social security number (SSN), date of birth, daytime phone number and exact address and name where you want the transcript mailed. Expect the transcript request to be processed within three working days.
  • No transcript request will be processed until all financial obligations to the college are clear and the student’s admission file is complete.
Do I need an official transcript of my evaluation?
  • No. An unofficial transcript viewed or printed from Connections or at a campus is all you need.
How do I get credit from Military Experience?
