Articulation and Transfer Agreements
Florida State College has negotiated Articulation and Transfer Agreements to facilitate the transfer of credits earned at Florida State College to bachelor degree completion programs at many colleges and universities. These agreements list specific policies, conditions and guidelines to assist with your transfer. The agreements also provide a curriculum pathway for Florida State College graduates to enter a specific college and major at the junior, or sometimes senior, level, and lessen the time to degree. The colleges collaborate on the most effective way to maximize the Florida State College credit hours before students transfer to the upper division institution. Florida State College also participates in the established statewide articulation agreements.
Articulation agreements are official agreements between Florida State College and baccalaureate degree granting colleges and universities. The agreements specify the courses taught at Florida State College that the upper division college or university will accept. Because institutions independently determine all of the requirements for their programs, articulation agreements differ from program to program and from college to college. After meeting the academic standards set forth in the agreement with Florida State College, students apply to the bachelor's program to which they had planned to transfer. Usually, they are accepted with full junior status.
Participating in an articulation agreement for transfer to a college or university helps ensure that you won't have to retake successfully completed courses and earn additional credits to enter as a junior, once you transfer - unless, of course, you change your major or degree program.
Search Options
You may search for articulation and transfer information based on several different options:
Colleges and Universities - These agreements represent all of the colleges and universities with whom Florida State College has an articulation agreement.
College and University Majors - This link provides you with a list of all of the majors at the bachelors degree level which are part of a Florida State College articulation agreement.
Online Majors - These agreements represent bachelors degree completion programs in which the junior and/or senior year can be completed via distance learning. Florida State College students can complete a bachelors degree without leaving Jacksonville.
Local Majors - These agreements represent bachelors degree completion programs in which the junior and/or senior year can be completed at a college or university offering classes in Jacksonville or in the First Coast area. This includes colleges that may have a main campus in another city or state, but offer classes locally.
Florida State College Majors - This link provides you with a list of all of the Florida State College programs of study that match with one or more articulation agreements. Select your program of study, and the link will provide a list of any Florida State College articulation agreements designed for your program of study.
2 + 2 Programs - These agreements specify associate degree programs that are accepted for transfer.
3 + 1 Programs - These agreements specify an arrangement in which Florida State College associates degree students, upon graduation their junior year of coursework, through a specific 'bridge' curriculum able to be completed at Florida State College, in order to transfer to the university for the senior year.
Online Degree Programs - If you are interested in completing your associates and bachelors degrees online, this may be the option for you. With this option, you will complete your first two or three years online with Florida State College and then transfer to a college or university and complete your degree online.
Statewide Articulation Agreements - This link provides a list of the statewide articulated A.S. to B.S. programs in which Florida State College participates. These agreements specify A.S. degree programs that will transfer to any Florida state university offering the matching bachelors degree program such as A.S. Nursing to B.S. Nursing (not all state universities have matching bachelor’s programs). Please note that only a few of Florida State College AS degrees are included in this statewide articulation agreement. This link also provides information about the statewide articulated A.A. program to state universities and the A.A. General Education Requirement articulation with participating independent colleges and universities in Florida.

The accreditation status of the transfer institution is very important.
Accreditation by a regional commission that's recognized by the U.S. Department of Education is important. It's your proof that outside evaluators have carefully reviewed an institution's programs and policies. Many businesses, school districts, and other organizations prefer to hire graduates of programs that are regionally accredited. Regional accreditation also allows students to transfer more easily to other universities and to seek admittance to graduate programs.
Special Note: The documents on this Web page have been prepared and presented as an informational guide only. The program and transfer requirements provided herein are subject to change, amendment or deletion by Florida State College at Jacksonville or by the transfer institution as deemed appropriate.
Florida statute, 1007.24, guarantees that “any student who transfers among postsecondary institutions that are fully accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and that participate in the statewide course number system shall be awarded credit by the receiving institution for courses satisfactorily completed by the student at the previous institution. Credit shall be awarded if the courses are judged by the appropriate statewide course numbering system faculty committees … to be academically equivalent to courses offered at the receiving institution … The award of credit may be limited to courses that are entered in the statewide course numbering system …”
