Essential Card - Your Campus Credentials

The Essential Card is the official identification card of Florida State College at Jacksonville. It is issued to all members of the College community and is required for identification and access to essential College services. All Essential Cards are the property of the College.

Students are eligible to receive their Essential Card once they are registered for at least one course. To get your Essential Card, you’ll need to provide a photo ID. Please keep your Essential Card with you while on campus for identification purposes.

The Essential Card is required for appropriate use for identification and access to College services and facilities, including campus events, library and pay for print and copier services.

Your Essential Card is your key to:

Library – Check out materials at any College library utilizing the barcode on your Card. Your Essential Card is required when using materials at the campus Library/Learning Commons as your Card contains your Borrower ID number (see Accessing Online Florida State College Library Resources).
Essential Bucks – Make cashless purchases at pay for print and copy locations at the College for 10 cents per page.
College Events – Present your Essential Card to attend College events for potential discounts.

Your Essential Card is THE most important card that you will have at the College — vital for accessing services. Please carry your card with you at all times. To ensure durability and validity, do not tamper with or misuse the card, and protect it from damage by avoiding magnets.

Essential Bucks - A College Essential

Essential Bucks is a prepaid spending account on your Essential Card available to all active students, faculty and staff. It offers a safe and convenient way to pay for print and copy services at locations throughout the College.

Additional Benefits of Essential Bucks

Convenient – Pay for print and copy services with the Essential Card you already carry.
Fast and Easy to Use – Just swipe and go at self-service locations.
Prepaid – Only spend what you have. No costs, interest or fees incurred when adding value or using the account. Your account balance is immediately adjusted as you use your card.
Easy to Add Value – Add funds to your account debit/credit card by selecting the Essential Bucks “Add Value” link in Connections, Campus Payment Stations or by cash at any campus business office.
Safe and Secure – If you lose your Essential Card, you should replace the card. Your value will be automatically transferred to the replacement card.
Carries Over – Essential Bucks carry over for as long as you are an active student at the College.

How to Add Value to Essential Bucks

Online using Connections - Add value online using debit/credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card).
On Campus - Add value at any campus business office during office hours on any Florida State College at Jacksonville campus using cash only. Cashiers are available in business offices on each campus and center.

How to Get your Essential Card

The Essential Card is issued in the locations listed below. There will be mobile Essential Card issuance stations set up around the College at designated times. You will receive notification of the locations and hours of operation for these mobile stations through your Florida State College e-mail account.
