1. What is Live@edu?
Microsoft Live@edu is an exciting new service that Florida State College at Jacksonville is proud to offer to its students. With Live@edu, students will have access to a variety of powerful organizational tools and a robust new method of communicating with their professors, family and friends. Here's a brief overview of what’s available:
Microsoft Outlook Live:
- Get a robust e-mail account
- 10 GB inbox, 20 MB attachments
- Optimized Outlook experience
- Integrated Directory with faculty/staff on Exchange
Windows Live SkyDrive:
- Store documents online that can be accessed from any computer and share with
- others
- 25 GB password-protected online storage
- Create private, shared and public folders
- Store your documents online and access from other computers
Windows Live Spaces:
- Set up a space for group projects, campus clubs, or personal pages
- Link to documents stored on your SkyDrive
- Share your space with the world or with those you select from your contact list
- Create blogs
- Group discussions
- Variety of themes to choose from
Windows Live Alerts:
- Receive SMS alerts on your mobile phone
- E-mail, IM, and mobile alerts for students
- Campus announcement alerts
- General info alerts, breaking news, weather information, sports scores and more

- Connect and collaborate online
- Start a group conversation

Windows Live Messenger:
- Chat using the world's #1 IM client
- Group chat with up to 15 others
- Look at photos together, right in the conversation window

- Search Encarta Online
- Using Sharing Folders, share documents too large to send as attachments
- Send SMS message from Messenger interface Mobile
Mobile:
- Live@edu services are accessible via mobile phones
- Windows Live Spaces, Hotmail, Messenger are WAP-enabled
- Receive e-mail on mobile phone through POP3
- Windows Live for Mobile allows push e-mail to Nokia and Windows Mobile phones.
2. Why are we using Live@edu?
Live@edu enhances productivity by granting students a wide variety of tools to enhance their time at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A few of the features of Live@edu are a 25GB online storage space for students called “Windows Live SkyDrive”, support for all popular browsers on both Windows and Mac and stronger security for online communication. By partnering with Live@edu, the College can offer its students a safe, reliable and feature-rich Web experience while they continue along their path of higher education.
3. How do I get started?
Visit Connections and check your unread e-mail messages. Once you agree to the Terms of Service, you’re ready to go!
