Accelerated Curriculums
Accelerated curriculums are a prescribed sequence of courses, tailored to your program of study and designed for students who wish to earn their degree the fastest way possible. The courses themselves are the same, but the packaging (which courses to take when) and delivery (such as online in 8-week sessions) make for a more efficient schedule.
Depending on how much college level learning you already have, or can earn through credit for prior learning, you could finish an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in as little as 12 months. Taking full advantage of credit for prior learning, you could earn as much as 45 credit hours (75 percent of an associate degree) leaving you only 15 credit hours (5 courses or 25 percent of an associate degree) to complete through the College. Even if you don’t have any prior learning that equals college credit, we have plans where you can earn your A.A. in 16 months.Other Options
Accelerated curriculums are currently being designed for a variety of programs of study. If you have the motivation, resources and skills to advance more quickly, contact your advisor and ask about different ways to accelerate your program of study. Be sure to ask about these acceleration options:
- Making an efficient degree plan.
- +1 Scheduling: How taking just one more class each term and attending year-round can save an entire year off of an associate degree.
- How to maximize your prior learning:
- Provide documents such as ACE recommendations of college credit for corporate or military training.
- Pass exams such as CLEP, DSST, ECE, CCCE, AP, IB, or AICE.
- Prove that your experiential learning is equal to college learning through the Portfolio Development program.
- Accelerated curriculums whereby you attend classes on a pre-set schedule designed to help you earn your degree faster.
