Aviation

Whether you’re interested in flying airplanes, fixing them, or keeping their passengers and cargo safe in the skies, we’ve got you covered. One of Jacksonville’s best-kept secrets, the College has been offering aviation degrees since 1982. In 2002, the College’s Aviation Center of Excellence was established and opened at Cecil Airport. It has been growing and expanding ever since, with its most recent addition being the Aircraft Services Educational Facility. This state-of-the-art Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangar demonstrates the College’s commitment to aviation workforce economic development, with over 130,000 square feet of MRO work space

Future of Flight

As an active general aviation airport serving both civilian and military customers, Cecil Airport is an ideal location for all types of aviation training – pilot, maintenance and operations. On-site industry partners provide access to the local job market along with networking and internship opportunities.

Our aviation faculty bring decades of real-world civil and military aviation experience to the classroom – whether as pilots, air traffic controllers or aviation maintenance technicians, with some having extensive experience across all three disciplines. Students will quickly realize that all staff and faculty share a strong passion for aviation and are totally committed to providing their students with the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in their chosen career paths.

Our pilot graduates can be found flying and instructing in flight schools, Part 135 charter airlines, in corporate business jets, and for Part 121 regional and major airlines. Our Air Traffic Control graduates are employed at FAA control towers and en-route facilities around the country. Graduates of our Aviation Maintenance Management and Aviation Operations degree programs have found successful careers in airport operations and management, aircraft manufacturing and repair, and in support of major Part 121 passenger and air cargo transportation companies.

No matter what your current interest in aviation may be, we encourage you to explore our programs via this site, and to come out for a visit during one of our monthly open house events. The sky really is the limit at the School of Aviation. Take that first step, and see if a career in aviation is right for you.
