Can these programs be completed on a part-time basis?

Yes. However, students in the Professional Pilot Technology program still need to fly at least twice weekly (approximately 3-4 hours per week) to complete all flight labs. Students who do not fly at this rate are not likely to complete the rating in the minimum number of hours.

    How can I get started?

Complete a membership application, then visit a counselor/advisor or the Aerospace Department for more information. Some programs may require additional forms for admission. Please refer to your specific degree/certificate program for a complete list of requirements.

    When do classes begin?

Visit our online class schedules for information regarding dates and payment deadlines. You can also refer to the academic calendar for additional information.

    How much will classes cost?

Tuition and fees vary for Florida residents and non-Florida residents. Please visit our tuition and fees page for general information. You can also learn more about how to pay for college by visiting our financial aid and scholarships page.

Certain classes that require labs may have additional fees for lab supplies. Additional fees are published in the class schedule. Please refer to your specific degree/certificate program for any extra costs that may be incurred.

    What is an internship?

All A.S. degree programs require the student to obtain relevant work experience in his or her career field. It is up to the student to arrange the employer, although Florida State College will assist the student whenever possible. Internships may be paid or unpaid. Generally, 60 hours of work experience are required for each credit of internship. A business agreement between the employer and Florida State College is required. Contact the program manager for additional information.

How long will the program take to complete?
Technical certificates can be completed in a matter of months. The associate degree programs can be completed in two years with a full-time schedule or in four years with a part-time schedule.
What are my chances of getting a job after graduation?
Jacksonville has a significant aviation industry. The current job outlook for pilots and technicians is very good. Our graduates can be found among almost all of the major aviation employers in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Florida State College at Jacksonville works with local employers and WorkSource to place students locally.
