Florida State College recognizes the academic value of learning that takes place through experiences outside the classroom for most adult students. For a working adult, time is also valuable, and time for an education can be limited. Through Accelerated College, you can make the most of the time you have.
Accelerated College students have various opportunities to earn college credit for verifiable, college-level learning, regardless of the number of traditional transfer credits and/or credits awarded for prior learning experiences. To earn credit for your prior learning, these options are available:
- Credit by testing to include CLEP, Dantes, Excelsior, and College Course Challenge Exam (CCCE) exams
- Evaluation of military experience
- Portfolio Development
Adults in the workforce are often given the opportunity to participate in corporate training or required to have certain certificates for their jobs. Through the American Council on Education (ACE), college credit may also be awarded for the training, certifications, or exams required by an employer. Evaluation of corporate training, certificates, and/or apprenticeship programs may lead to college credit toward your Program of Study.
For working adults, Accelerated Degree Programs are available. Classes meet in the evenings and/or on weekends and blend classroom learning with distance learning to minimize the time spent in the classroom. This makes it much easier to achieve a degree while working or caring for a family. Additional information on each accelerated program can be accessed via the links on the left of this page. These programs allow part-time students to complete a degree and increase their value to employers much faster than other programs.
