CLEP Testing is available at NAS Jax

Electronic College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing is available to anyone with access to NAS Jacksonville. Examinees are not required to be FSCJ students.

Effective November 1, 2013, all candidates for CLEP or DSST testing at NAS Jacksonville or NS Mayport must make a reservation to test prior to arriving at the test sites. No walk-ins are allowed. This change was made necessary by changes to the CLEP software which restricts the number of available testing stations.  Candidates can make an appointment by contacting the Assessment and Certification Center.

To register for a CLEP examination, the first step is to register with College Board. The steps to complete CLEP registration are located on the CLEP website.

DANTES funds the CLEP exams for military personnel with “Armed Forces of the United States” ID cards. Two photo IDs are required of all personnel who test at NAS Jacksonville. A military ID card is required to be presented at the time testing for personnel to take advantage of the DANTES funding for the test. Military personnel can only take any CLEP exam once for free. Military personnel desiring to retake a CLEP exam must pay the appropriate testing fees.

Unfunded personnel include family members of military, Department of Defense (DoD) employees, and other civilians. For each test, those personnel will pay a separate, non-refundable $30 registration fee by credit or debit card. The $30 fee can be paid at the time of testing or to FSCJ staff at the NAS Jacksonville office. There is also an $80 CLEP exam fee which is paid by credit or debit card to CLEP at the time of testing.

Additional FSCJ CLEP information is available at our Assessment and Certification webpage.

View our list of CLEP exams to see if you can get on the fast track to a degree! Each CLEP exam takes about 90 minutes.

CLEP testing at NAS Jacksonville is offered by appointment and can be scheduled through the Assessment and Certification Center.

Contact military@fscj.edu to schedule your CLEP testing appointment at NAS Jacksonville.

On the day of testing, all examinees are required to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the test.

CLEP Testing Preparation

Students indicate that the best way to prepare for CLEP exams is to study the CLEP or AP study guide for the subject area. Study as if you were preparing for a final comprehensive exam. The Navy College Office may have study resources available.

Students who prefer web-based resources also report success using these sites:

  • CLEP
  • freeuniv.com
  • Instant Cert
  • Regents Prep
  • I Study Smart
