Florida Statute (FS) 235.017 requires the Florida State College at Jacksonville District Board of Trustees to comply with building and life safety codes.
FS 235.26 further details this issue by requiring compliance with the Florida Building Code (FBC) and the Florida Fire Prevention Code effective March 1, 2002. FS 235.26 further allows community college boards the option to administer and enforce code provisions or utilize the services of local building departments (in our case, the City of Jacksonville).
At Florida State College at Jacksonville, FBC administration and enforcement will be internally administered. All facility major maintenance, renovation, remodeling, and new construction performed at the College shall comply with the FBC and all other applicable building codes.
