Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

A Flexible Spending Account allows an employee to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical and/or dependent care expenses with tax-free dollars. At the time of hire, the employee can elect an annual amount to contribute to the FSA account. The amount selected will be deducted from the employee’s paychecks on a pre-tax basis throughout the year. Employees can create an account with PayFlex to submit claims, find related forms and keep track of their balances. Employees who opt-out of the College's health plan will receive an opt-out credit worth up to $720 per year (prorated for new hires).

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling and/or crisis intervention service provided for employees and their families. Health Advocate offers professional support for personal and work/life issues.

EAP offers the following to employees and their families:

  • Up to eight free sessions per year for you and your family
  • There is no cost to use the service
  • 24-hour Careline - (877) 240-6863
  • Visit the HealthAdvocate members page to find useful information on a wide range of topics or send a question by email.

Tuition Reimbursement

The College will waive or reimburse tuition and matriculation fees for courses taken at the College for full-time employees and their eligible dependents and regular part-time employees (APM 03-0910). Employees requesting to waive tuition and fees for Florida State College at Jacksonville courses will need to complete a Payroll Deduction Authorization form and turn it in to their business office. Undergraduate and graduate courses taken at accredited institutions other than the College are reimbursable up to $3,000 per fiscal year for undergraduate courses and up to $4,000 per fiscal year for graduate courses (APM 12-1501 Course and Training Reimbursement Program).
