FSCJ Online’s Technology Requirements

Reliable and consistent computer and Internet access are required to successfully participate in and complete online courses. Please make sure you have the minimum requirements noted here.

Double-check if Canvas, the College’s online learning management system, supports your preferred Internet browser.

You should own or have access to:

• A Florida State College at Jacksonville email account
• Computer with Internet access
• A current operating system and Internet browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
• Office software (Microsoft Office 365 is free for FSCJ students)
• Software and plug-ins that may include:
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Flash Player (required for viewing and recording audio and video on Canvas)
  • Java (required for screen sharing in Canvas)
  • VLC media player

Please note that you may need to enable pop-ups for the learning management system to access all features of an online course.

Some courses may require additional software. For details about specific course requirements, refer to the course syllabus.
